The National Quilting Association, Inc. has officially designated the third Saturday in March as National Quilting Day, but over the years, observance of National Quilting Day has unofficially expanded to the whole month of March! This year the twenty third annual celebration will be held March 15, 2014.
I’m glad that National Quilting Day has expanded to National Quilting Month because that’s exactly the way I celebrate my birthday – not just on the day, but for the entire month. If it’s a good thing – why not keep celebrating?!
There are countless ways to celebrate National Quilting Day. In the past quilters have had sew-in days, made quilts for community charity venues, worked with Girl Scouts to earn sewing badges, etc.
I never need an excuse to do some quilting because it is my passion and I truly enjoy the entire process. I find it therapeutic, even when I have to un-sew! I have a quilting buddy that I quilt with once a week, every week. We share ideas, try new gadgets and projects and ooh and aah over fabric. We inspire each other and motivate each other.
With the whole month of March in front of us, I hope you plan some quilting projects. Feel free to leave a comment about what your quilting plans are and how you plan to celebrate Natioal Quilting Month!
