Garden Flag Easter Bunny by LoveQuilting.com
Finished size 7” W x 13” H
Our Easter Bunny garden flag is not only adorable, it requires very little sewing. We used the same fabric front and back with double sided fusible to hold the layers together.
Dinky Dots Pink White 7-1/2” x 14” – 2 EA, 2-1/2” x 5-1/2” – 2 EA
Steam A Seam Lite II 7-1/2” x 14” – 1 EA
White Yarn – 7 to 8 yards
ALL SEAMS ARE 1/4”, unless noted otherwise.
Prepare the Bunny
Print the bunny template by clicking here. Since most printers print only 8-1/2” x 11” paper, we made the bunny in 2 sections. Print both pages, cut the paper and tape the template together.
Trace the bunny onto the grid side of the Lite Steam A Seam II. Remove the plain white paper from the back side of the Lite Steam A Seam II and place on the WRONG side of one 7-1/2” x 14” Dinky Dots Pink White.
Following the fusing instructions, fuse into place. Cut around the bunny outline.
Remove the remaining paper and place the bunny shape so the WRONG side of the bunny shape is placed on the WRONG side of the remaining 7-1/2” x 14” Dinky Dots Pink White.
Following the fusing instructions, fuse into place. Carefully cut around the bunny shape.
Make the Hanging Loops
With the 2-1/2” x 5-1/2” Dinky Dots Pink White, fold one long side under 1/4″ and press. Do the same for the opposite side. Fold in half lengthwise and stitch the raw edges with 1/4″ seam. Turn and press. Do this for the other hanging loop.
Place the hanging loops on one side of the bunny on the ears. Stitch into place with 1/8” seam on both top and bottom of loop.
Making The Bunny Tail
Use a small piece of cardboard or small post it stack and wrap the white yarn around until all the yarn is wrapped around the base. Slide the yarn off the base and with another small piece of yarn, tie a knot in the center.
Cut the loops and start fluffing your pom pom. Trim to desired size and fullness.
Use a drop of hot glue to attach the bunny tail to one side of the bunny, we chose to put the tail on the opposite side as the hanging loops.
Hang your garden flag and enjoy!
